Powder coating is the most
cost effective way to enhance many kinds of metals...capable
of outlasting countless liquid paint applications from can
or gun. Powder coating may cost a little more... yet powder
coating won't chip, flake, or peel, and best of all, avoids
compromising the base material.
R and R Specialties promise to you is.... simply unsurpassed
quality!
A product...free of environmental hazard.
Held in your hand the pigmented dry powder used in powder
coating looks and feels like colored baby powder. It's also
just as safe. Mainly because it's completely free of environmentally
hazardous VOC... (volatile organic compounds) found in liquid
paints. Oversprayed powder is recycled. Hardly any solid waste
is generated. Isn't it refreshing to find a process that complies
with the nation's environmental laws-without increasing the
cost of production.
Whether your interest is... restoration, show applications
or industrial, preparation is the key to long lasting quality.
Your components, depending upon base material, will be carefully
cleaned using a mixture of mild to aggressively granular media.
Personal attention begins with a hard sanding process to create
surface "bite" assuring adhesion and consistent
powder flow.
Our pre-baking cycle purges trapped moisture, oils and gasses
that cause surface contamination so they will not affect the
quality of your powder coating project.
Using a high temperature silicone media, all machined, threaded
or "mating" surfaces are carefully masked after
the pre-baking cycle. Followed by an additional chemical cleaning
step, completing the preparation process.
Next the parts are coated using a special electrostatic spray
gun that is charged with 30,000 - 90,000 volts. This process
applies the powder in a smooth and even coating.
Once coated, the parts are cured in our convection style
oven at approximately 375 degrees where the powder coating
material melts into an even smooth finish.
After curing the parts are removed from the oven and allowed
to cool at which time your parts will be individually packaged
in plastic bags and made ready for Shipment. Powder Coating
usually requires approximately 7 to 10 working days for most
jobs, some custom jobs may require additional time.
